Maybe you can make a stop in Stockholm to meet one of the rare local subbuteo players?

Things are still moving. 11 tournaments in the agenda in December. 343 players & 24 nations in the ranking

The good news is also that there is now a small group in Melbourne trying to set up something so there might be another tournament in a different city in the future.

Maybe the Sydney area can have different "clubs" or at least locations where people can meet for a tournament a couple of times a year. I know bringing the tables is sometimes the problem. Anyway, the tournament seemed to be great and I'm happy things finally happened!

What are the exact dates when you will be staying in Finland ?
 

We are arriving on 22 December and leaving on about 15 January. We will probably be in Lapland from about 9 January until just before we leave for Australia. Have to make sure we see some snow 

I can suggest Finalnd to organize a tournament (maybe a Satellite or something) during this period then?

Usually players qualify at the national championship. We have a championship for each age category and for the Open category, every season, players are divided in 3 groups according to their abilities.

Players who qualify via the world rankings are selected for the individual event but not always for the team event. Due to some special circumstances, some players who have played very well during the season can be selected as well by our "sports director".

Of course it's very different and much more difficult to select players when you have 200 players affiliated to the association... :-)
