I agree with Zinga's comment too re sticking to the schedule and people being able to play up to 3 games a night unless there is a very compelling reason not too, as well as using second days (either Mondays or maybe the occasional weekend) to get through the games.

As for the goal flick rule, 15.2.1.4, I thinking wording 'The attacker then places the playing figure taking the goal-kick as desired by the ball' is a little clumsy, but 'by' in this case means 'near'. In other words, this sentence actually means something like 'The attacker then places the playing figure taking the goal-kick near the ball in a position that they choose'. That is, they place their figure as they desire near the ball......

Hope that makes sense.

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Rossonero"Three games each for Seppo and Eliot. No complaints, please. Two games for others.

:)

I'm happy to play 3 games. It's about time I started catching up with others, both in games played and points won!!

I recently emailed Vincent Coppenolle about a couple of things, including the issue of padding for fences. He thinks it is a good idea and said it was done for the recent major in Mons, Belgium. Apparently, they used some kind of cork - not sure if it is expensive, but it would probably be good.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll discuss this more tomorrow. And I will have a tape measure with me!

Yes, where indeed??

I should've had 9.6 points from Milton Keynes. I need to write to the guy who does the rankings to find out what happened - it may be they did not have my date of birth, even though it has been sent to them at least twice!

So, to summarise, what would you like me to do?? :)

First, there is the size, or length, of the board. Zinga has suggested they can be a bit shorter, and I think that's right. I will go for about 144cm as suggested. If I could borrow an Astropitch on Thursday (is that possible?), that would help me to work out exactly how long the board should be.

Second, the fences. If the timber fences could easily be added or removed as required, ie for FISTF or Finnish rules, would you like all 6 tables with (removable) timber fences? That would certainly help with FISTF or finnish rules tournaments. If they cannot be removable, do you want 3 boards with fences fixed and three without? As for padding, if the fences are removable, we can work out the padding issue later. If not, then we'll sort something out first.

Third, the material. If you do want 6 boards, do you want them all made of the the MDF? I note the problem with pinning in plastic goals that Vesa has raised.

Cheers.

Pojat

Hönkki will put a post on this thread when he gets a chance, but just to let you know that I can make the boards for you for 14.40 euros per table (this would be the total cost per table, as I will donate the cost of the fences). This is using 16mm MDF material. Anything thicker would be very heavy.

The boards would be 150cm x 100cm, and with timber fences on top (padded with cloth material to help protect playing figures) approximately 2cm high (and two cm wide), making the total area inside the fences approximately 146cm x 96cm. Is it OK if the fences are fixed, or would you like them to be removable for storage purposes?

The FISTF rules have the following regulations for the board size:

1.1.2.   The playing surface and the playing board shall extend outside the playing-area for 4-10 cm from the touch- and goallines. The playing board may not extend more than 10 cm behind the back of the goal.

1.1.3.   The playing board shall be surrounded by a fence of 2-10 cm in height and a maximum of 10 cm in width. Centrally behind each goal there shall be a gap of 15-25 cm in the surround.

If I understand the posts on this thread correctly re the size of both Astropitch and Astroturf pitches, then the boards would conform with the FISTF rules, as well as being fabulous of course!   But let me know if anything does not sound right to you.

Re Hönkki's question, the answer is yes, the attacker may take his flick while the ball is still moving, as long as the block flick has been taken.

Rule 14.2.7.   'The attacker takes the flick-in and shall then wait for the defender to take a block-flick (if it was not already taken) before the attacker may proceed with attacking.'

This rule only requires the attacker to wait for the block flick to be played, not for the ball to have stopped. I also think the bit in brackets (ie 'if it was not already taken') allows for the situation where the block flick has been taken quickly, ie while the ball is moving.

Kiitos Hönkki!

Does that mean we will not play any HeFi league games tomorrow, only you guys will play some slow games before the mini-tournament with Stuart?

That's fine with me, but I just wanted to be sure. I'd be happy to play 1 or 2 HeFi league games if others are interested and there are tables free, but if not then that's no problem or me

I don't think I can make it next Thursday 5/4. It is Jutta's (and my) birthday, so.....I'd better be a good boy!!

I am OK for Monday 9/4 and happy to play both league games and with Stuart Osborne. I gather we start at around 3pm? I will probably need to leave by 6 or 6.30pm as we look like having a family gathering on Monday evening....

Cheers.
