Wow!! Some amazing results while I have been away. The league is getting better and better. Congratulations to Vesa for finally beating the Finnish champion!!......Zinga dropping points is great for me of course, but it's not over until all games have been played. I will need to play my best to win the league.

Are you planning to play next Tuesday, rather than next Thursday? I can play that day but only arrive back in Finland very late on Monday night (well, Tuesday morning really), so if there is any chance of playing on Thursday that'd be nice. But if Tuesday suits everyone else, so be it.....

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Zinga"
Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Eliot Kennedy"..commiserations to Zinga for a narrow loss. So, do we count a loss on shootout as a loss in our personal statistics??:?  :taputapu:

That's actually good for me too, meaning I did not lose against Marko

Having fun here in UK. Played in the TPSA tournament last Sunday and really enjoyed it. There were 13 players, all but 1 of them good to very good to excellent. I had a group of 5 and came second (3 wins, one loss) whichI was really pleased with. In the second round (a group of 3) I had one 0-0 draw (I should've won 1 or 2 nil) and a 0-2 loss to Jeremy Bradley, with him scoring in the last 10 seconds, so I was happy with that result. My best result was a 4-2 win in a must win game, having been down 0-1 at half time. Overall, played 6, won 3, drew 1 and lost 2, 8 for and 8 against. More good experience!!

See you all soon.

Well done Hönkki, Zinga, Vesa and everyone who helped to set and run the tournament. The room was great, the technology (and sound effects) were terrific and, of course, the boards were brilliant

I thought the standard of play was very good, showing the improving depth and experience with the FISTF rules of the players here in Finland, with some very good games throughout and 4 excellent and close quarter finals. Congratulations to Juho, Sami, Tommi and, in particular, Marko, on their excellent FISTF debuts. Congratulations also to Puppe on his victory, and commiserations to Zinga for a narrow loss. So, do we count a loss on shootout as a loss in our personal statistics??:?  8)  8)

I hope next year you have an even bigger and better tournament with some 'real' foreign players, and I hope I can take part again at some time in the future.

All the best.

Eliot

As discussed just then with Vesa, I will now bring the boards with me on Saturday, not tonight. I will get there as close to 1pm as I can, but it may be closer to 2pm. :?

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Hönkki"Wille is able to come on saturday but the exact time is needed.

I can be there on Saturday arriving between 1400 and 1430 if that suits others, but will need to get away by about 1600 or 1630 at the very latest whatever time I arrive. That should I hope leave time to set up the tables and play at least one game, maybe two if we go well.

Re setting up the tables, does someone have a spirit level that they can bring on Saturday to make sure the tables are nice and even (the new boards at least should be :)  :) )

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Hönkki"Eliot, what about if we play on saturday as a practice game easter tournament's final ?  :D

That's a great idea Hönkki! I'm happy to do that if there is time on the day (I have something on in the morning at the boys' school and then we are going to the Serbia-Suomi game in the evening, but I should have a couple of hours in the afternoon to set up and to play a couple of games).

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "Hönkki"Vesa's rise in the top-three and even reaching for championship has been quite surprising. He played his first FISTF-rules games in last autumn and Hefi-debut was againts Zinga, 1-4 defeat on 16th of october. Only a few games later Vesa could beat Eliot and that's one reason why Zinga became the champion last season. So, the development has been fast and it is interesting to see how it continues. I really can't wait my leaguegame againts Vesa.

I agree. Vesa combines great keeping and good defence with a dangerous and awkward attack - not a bad combination!! But I am relying on you Hönkki to take points off Vesa, like you did with Zinga!!

But I truly believe everyone in the league, me included, is playing better than when we started last year and improving all the time. And some players are still trying to find the best playing figures and style for themselves, so I think that there will be continuing improvement, especially if you can get regular international competition, both here in Finland and in Europe. Hyvää Suomi  :)

If I beat Eliot, we are even and other games will decide. Still, if Vesa beats me (I know he will beat Eliot for sure  :)

Lainaus käyttäjältä: "SUFC"Btw, if Hönkki can get draw against Zinga, i think you have very good changes to beat him  Zinga's gonna beat you 10-0 if you're not careful Kaitsu!!

Thanks too Vesa. Actually, I'd better skip it now, as my wife is now at the last minute having to go to a function at the boys' school at 6pm, so there is too much going on in our household!!

See you all on Sunday :)

Are we playing tomorrow (Thursday)? I'm able to come, but to be honest would be happy not to as one of my sons has soccer training tomorrow night and the other a game. I have also been working hard on the new tables in the last two days and my hands and arms are quite sore!

I agree with Puppe re the FISTF rules. If you hit a moving ball with a flick after possession has changed, it is a free flick or back.
